I wonder…

It is hard to believe we are here now
Our connection to place is blurred with noise
Stars clouded from lighting the night sky
But time continues on beat, slightly off
Without a peep because we cannot
See, the seeds sown when Earth cries out, it is
Me; your connection to self, know me, kindly
Consumed with distrust they smile brightly,
The heat of anger touches our skin
A reminder that cannot be ignored
Truth to the unknown lurking in the fold
Would we be so bold to wonder, what if we,
Stop. Think of the bigger game at play.
Honor the ground meant to nourish our bodies
Earth is waiting for us to answer their call.

The ocean is so big and so vast that I both greatly fear and admire it. It is strong and commanding in a way that could easily overpower me. But, it can also be calm and provides so much life. Being at the beach puts into perspective how small we truly are in the world and makes my own problems seem silly.
Powerlessness

I remember first entering college and feeling confused and surprised that so many people weren’t planning to study sustainability because I felt that climate change is the most important issue of our time.
