Empowerment

After what we did together, I felt really empowered.

Climate change is the biggest challenge ever to face humanity and it will take all of us to be part of the solution. When people have their agency and choice honored in the collaborative process of working toward solutions, they are empowered.

Climate empowerment is strengthened the more people can meaningfully participate in ways available to them.

Question: When and where have I felt empowered in climate action and how can I recapture that feeling?

Action

Use the influence you already have

You do not need to be an expert or an adult to make a difference. Start a conversation, suggest a change at school, help organize an event, contact a leader, create something, or bring people together around an idea.

What empowerment feels like

Empowerment grows when you realize your choices, ideas, and voice can have an effect. It does not mean you control everything. It means recognizing where you have influence and using it alongside other people.

Learn

Young people are already leading

Teens are starting organizations, changing school policies, creating art, conducting research, and bringing climate issues into their communities. Their stories can help you see what is possible without having to copy their path.
