Empathy

What inspired you to take action for the planet?

My mom is an environmental science teacher, so I have been aware of and passionate about climate change for as long as I can remember. She inspires me, and all of her students, to protect our natural resources. She always says the Earth will recover no matter what, it’s humanity’s ability to survive on Earth that is in jeopardy. Most importantly, she taught me that we all have the power to make positive change.

The ocean is so big and so vast that I both greatly fear and admire it. It is strong and commanding in a way that could easily overpower me. But, it can also be calm and provides so much life. Powerlessness

I remember first entering college and feeling confused and surprised that so many people weren’t planning to study sustainability because I felt that climate change is the most important issue of our time. That “wake-up moment” at the Fridays for Future protest changed the course of my life, infusing its major decisions with the perspective that we must preserve our Earth for future generations and take action now to both mitigate and adapt to climate change.
